Learn more about the Košice Historical Map project, our data sources, and our mission.
This interactive platform serves as a comprehensive digital archive of the National Cultural Monuments (NNKP) in Košice. Our mission is to preserve historical data, visualize the city's rich architectural heritage, and make this information easily accessible to researchers, students, tourists, and the general public.
The core data presented on this map is aggregated directly from official public registries, primarily the Monuments Board of the Slovak Republic (Pamiatkový úrad SR). We ensure that the foundational information regarding the monuments' classification and history is authentic and verified.
While we strive for a complete visual experience, the official datasets we rely on are often text-heavy and may lack visual media. Due to these limitations in the source data, not every monument currently has a high-quality photograph or a 3D model. We are actively working on filling these gaps through our own digitization efforts and community contributions.
NNKP stands for 'Národná kultúrna pamiatka' (National Cultural Monument). These are objects declared by the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic as significant parts of the nation's cultural heritage due to their historical, artistic, or scientific value.
Yes! Since some official records lack visual documentation, we welcome contributions from the community. If you have photographs or historical information about a specific building, please contact us.
